Lorraine Hanson

Lorraine Margaret Hanson, 89, of Staples, died Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Lakewood Healthcare Center where she has lived for the past three years.

Services are scheduled for Friday, January 27, 2012, at Swan Valley Lutheran Church in Leader, MN at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Steve Ellerbush.

Visitation will be from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, January 26th at Brenny Funeral Home in Staples and one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial will immediately follow the service at Swan Valley Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the church after burial.

Lorraine was born January 12, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN to Harvey and Barbara (Smallwood) Roach. She moved to the Leader area in her early teens.

Lorraine was married to Harold O. Hanson on October 30, 1941 in Bessemer, MI.

Together they farmed and raised their family in Byron Township. Lorraine was a member of Swan Valley Lutheran Church. She loved gardening, canning, reading, playing cards and marbles with family and friends.

Survivors include children: Randy Hanson of Brainerd; Janet (Jerry) Brademan of Bemidji; Pat (Jim) Tarbell of Deer River; and Phyllis (Kevin) Brown of Motley; 9 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great, Great Grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; mother and father; brother, Morley; and two daughters, Margaret Ann and Kathleen Barbara Hanson.

Memorials are preferred to Swan Valley Lutheran Church or to the Revitalization Project of the Lakewood Care Center in Staples, MN.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples.
