Lorraine Grabow

August 29, 1920 — October 7, 2017

Lorraine Alberta Quast Grabow ascended to the Heavenly Realms on October 7, 2017, at 5:35 PM in Pequot Lakes, MN. She was born on August 29, 1920, to Emil and Mable (Bandimere) Quast of Carver, MN. She married Leonard W. Grabow on February 17, 1942, in St. Louis, MO. Leonard was on active duty with the U.S. Army at that time. They were blessed with seven children. They lived in Excelsior and Carver, MN, for 7 years and then Chicago, IL, until August 1971. They moved to Jenkins, MN, opened up the L&L Diner and operated it until October of 1978, at which time they retired. In 2011 Lorraine took up residency at Senior Class Care in Pequot Lakes. Angela Sandelin, President, along with her dedicated and loving staff became Lorraine's second family. Lorraine knew this was where she would call her "final" home.

Lorraine lived a beautiful life of service to her family and others in her community and served as Mayor of Jenkins, MN, for one term. Her life was enriched by meeting so many caring and loving people. Her husband preceded her in death in 1986, and her son, KyLen, in 1996. Lorraine will be greatly missed by her family and dear friends.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Lorraine requested memorials be made to DaNette Dempsey, c/o McKinley Elementary School, 1740 Constance Blvd. NE, Ham Lake, MN 55304, for purchase of classroom books to celebrate her love of reading.
