Loretta A. Windschitl, 89, of Pillager, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at Riverside Assisted Living. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 11, 2017 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley with Father Joe Korf officiating. Loretta was born January 24, 1928, in New Ulm, the daughter of Isidore and Mary (Preisinger) Faerber. After graduating high school, she married Arnold Windschitl on April 27, 1948 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. In addition to raising her family, Loretta taught Sunday school. After moving from Stewart to Motley in 1975, she began sharing her cooking skills working at a number of local restaurants. Loretta liked gardening and canning. She also enjoyed baking and sewing, as well as playing Bingo (she was Queen) and cards. Watching soaps, game shows, and the birds were some of her favorite pastimes – and during Christmas she loved to watch Christmas movies. Loretta loved her family, especially the family gathering held each summer.

She will be missed by her children, Gary Windschitl, of Motley, Ralph Windschitl, of Motley, Tony Windschitl, of Menahga, Bob Windschitl, of Marble, Leo (Cyndi) Windschitl, of Motley, Paul (Beth) Windschitl, of Sioux Falls, SD, Tom Windschitl, of Fridley, Joan (Tim) Arango, of TN, Rita Miller, of Baxter, and Roger (Rebecca) Windschitl, of Columbia, MD; siblings, Isidore Faerber, Sister Gretchen Faerber, George Faerber, Pauline “Polly” Hoeffner, Marcus Faerber, and Florence Apple; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; children, Carol, Jim, and Joseph; and siblings, Joseph, Stanley, and Marie.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation for the friends and staff Loretta made at Riverside. Their compassion, sincerity and friendship meant so much to Loretta, and to her family.
