Loretta Hoemberg

Loretta Mary (Kasper) Hoemberg, age 87, of Staples, passed away on June 2, 2017 at the Lakewood Care Center. Visitation will be Friday, June 9 from 4-7 at Brenny Funeral Chapel Staples. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples at 11 am with a one hour visitation prior.

On March 4, 1930, Loretta was born on the family farm in Fawn Lake Township to Christine (Gettl) and Matthew Kasper. Growing up she attended country school until 8th grade. At a young age Loretta began working and married Ernie Brastad, and from this union their son Howard was born. Ernie passed away in 1949. In 1960 she met Paul Hoemberg. They were married, made their home in Staples and had four children together, Gregory, Laurie, Darrell and Paula. Loretta was a hardworking homemaker and enjoyed gardening. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Loretta was a devoted woman and had a strong heart.

Those left to remember Loretta include her children, Howard Brastad of Aldrich; Greg (Julie) Hoemberg of St. Cloud; Laurie Keller of Sauk Rapids; and Darrell (Lisa) Hoemberg of Bertha; her grandchildren, Michael Brastad of Aldrich; Shawn (Jessica) Hoemberg of Carlos; Chelsey (Martin) Braaten of Bertha; Jared Hoemberg of Bertha; Patrick (Ashley) Keller of Lemoore, CA; Kayla Keller of St. Cloud; and Karly Hoemberg of St. Cloud; great-grandchildren, Kami Hoemberg, Carter Hoemberg, Casey Hoemberg, Ellyana Braaten, Easton Braaten, Edik Braaten and Izabella Keller; and her last surviving sibling, sister Florence Avery of Staples.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ernie Brastad; her daughter, Paula Hoemberg in 1975; her husband, Paul Hoemberg in 1997; and 14 siblings.

Services have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, Staples, MN.

Visitation Friday, June 9, from 4-7:00 pm, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, and on Saturday at the church, during the hour prior to Mass.
