Loren D. Simmons, age 93, of Pine River, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Carefree Living in Brainerd. He was born to Edward and Olive (Dunn) Simmons on October 3, 1918, in Little Falls, MN. He married B. Elaine McConnell on August 30, 1946. They moved to Pine River in 1968 where he resided until the time of his death.
Loren was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the 34th Infantry Red Bull Division. Upon activation, he then served for 42 months during World War II. During his military service he was stationed in Africa, Sicily, Italy and Ireland and fought in 7 campaigns in Africa and several in Italy.
Loren is survived by his children: Robert Simmons (Karen) of Laguna Hills, CA; David Simmons (Triss) of Brainerd, Linda Johnson (Dennis) of Brainerd, Loren E. Simmons (Sarah) of Pine River; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, B. Elaine; parents; brothers, Aubrey and Dale; and grandson, Robert Simmons, Jr.
Services will be 10 AM on Wednesday, February 1, at Faith Assembly of God Church, Pine River, with Pastor Tim Walker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery, Little Falls.
