Lois Schuster

August 28, 1928 — September 9, 2014

Lois Roberta Schuster, age 86, of Pine River, passed away at Quiet Oaks Hospice House on Sept. 9, 2014, with her family at her side. She was born to Walter and Esther Hudoba in Minneapolis, MN, on August 28, 1928, the youngest of three children. Lois graduated from Edison High School in NE Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to William Schuster on Sept. 25, 1948, in Minneapolis. Bill and Lois resided in Pine River, MN, until they moved to Brainerd, MN, in 1959. Lois worked for her brother-in-law at the family-run grocery store in Pine River. After their move to Brainerd, she was employed at Citizen's State Bank until her retirement in 1981.

After their retirement, Bill and Lois spent their summers on Lake Ada near Pine River, and their winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Even after Bill's death in 1988, Lois continued to summer on Lake Ada and winter in Lake Havasu City.

Lois loved her children, grandchildren and especially her two great granddaughters. She always had a smile and a laugh for them as well as chocolate chip cookies. Her grandchildren affectionately called her "Lou Dog". She faithfully attended every major event in their lives. She had a generous spirit and was known for her laugh and smile.

Lois enjoyed trips home from Arizona with her son, Steve, and his wife, Lynn and sometimes her sister, Eileen. They would take sightseeing side trips all the way home to Minnesota. She also traveled on a cruise to Alaska and the Panama Canal with family. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pine River and the Eagles, Elks and Pine River Legion Auxiliaries.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Eileen, and son-in-law, Stuart Ross.

She will be missed by her son, Stephen Schuster (Lynn) of Sauk Rapids, MN; daughter, Lynda Ross (Larry Hansen) of Grand Rapids, MN; grandson, Ryan Ross (Jill) of Hanover, MN; granddaughter, Aimee Ross (Lucas Peters) of Grand Rapids, MN; great granddaughters, Sydney and Avery Ross; brother, Walter Hudoba (Virginia); sister-in-law, Donna Watson (Derald); and 13 nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pine River. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
