Lois Catherine Norr, 84, of Brainerd died Saturday, September 7, 2019 at home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church in Brainerd. Burial will be in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday at the church in Brainerd.
Lois was born on July 1, 1935 in Randall, MN to Lester and Burnice (Gish) Houchins. She married Alvie Norr on September 22, 1956 in Little Falls. In her younger years Lois worked as a telephone operator and after her children were grown she worked at various stores including: Montgomery Wards, K-mart, and Ben Franklin. Lois was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, baking, crocheting and knitting. Lois loved to travel but her favorite place was home with her family. Lois will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Lois is survived by her children, Joan (Joe) McKinnon of Bemidji, Tammy (Mark) Erickson of Kindred, ND, Brenda (Harold) Whirley of Brainerd, Eric (Sandy) Norr of Lake Elsinore, CA; grandchildren, Aimee (Chad) Tabaka, Kristi (Randy) Ellingson, Zach (Chelsie) Wermager, Josh Mattson (Sundus Al-Bayati), Nikki (Logan) Larsen, Joshua (Lisa) Whirley, Katie (Ryan) Hyllested, Kristie (Bryan Baumann) McKinnon, Travis Whirley, Lucas (Elizabeth Williams) Norr, Bailey (Nick Lundgren) Horn, Jacob Norr, Cassie (Shamar Fenroy-Parker) Erickson, Sam Norr, Jackson Norr and Dustin Erickson; great grandchildren, Parker, Kianna, and Easton Ellingson, Madison and Jacob Tabaka, Mya and Carter Wermager, Whitney and Rylie Whirley, Morgan Johnson, Piper Horn, Nona-Mae Williams, and Camilla Hyllested, she greatly anticipated the birth of her great grandson, Bear Robert Hyllested at the end of October. Lois is also survived by her siblings, Kenny (Alice) Houchins of New Hope, Bob Houchins of Kent, WA, Melody (Jim) Johannes of Port Angeles, WA; brother-in-law, Donald Norr; and many nieces and nephews who were very special to Lois.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvie; grandson, Chase Erickson; great grandson, Calvin Hyllested; siblings, Arlo Houchins and Ardie Bollin.
