Lois M. Hoskins, age 62, of Baxter, lost her battle with cancer, Friday, December 5, 2003 at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Brainerd. Lois was born on November 15, 1941 in Onamia, MN. She graduated from Onamia High School in 1959 and worked for Prudential Insurance before beginning a rewarding career as a Mom. Wanting to give more to children, Lois also worked 26 years at Whittier Elementary School. She will be remembered for her ?Teddy Bear Picnics?, role as ?Mother Goose?, and encouraging the love of books and reading. Lois performed community service projects ranging from Meals On Wheels, Soup Kitchen, Hospital Gift Shop, Church Guild, and Little League Baseball Mom. Some of her many hobbies included flower gardening, teddy bears, antiques, auctions, book collecting, and traveling. Most importantly, Lois touched the hearts and lives of everyone. Her sparkling blue eyes and glowing smile would enrich all whom she made contact with. She strived to be the perfect Wife, Mom, Grandma, and Friend; she succeeded admirably.
Lois is survived by her husband, Jerry; sons, Craig (Annette) Hoskins, Todd (Bridgette) Hoskins; her mother, Janet; sisters, Carol and Alice; brother, Duane; and grandchildren, Mitchell, Steven, and Jeremy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 8, 2003 at 11:30am at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Seamus Walsh officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 7, 2003, from 3:00 to 6:00pm at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter; Parish Prayers will be conducted at 4:30pm. Visitation will also be on Monday from 10 to 11 at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in the Baxter City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Lois requested teddy bears, which will be donated to local law enforcement agencies children?s crisis programs. Services have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
