Services for Lois Bishop, 88, of St. Josheph formerly of Backus will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Kline Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes and one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery near Pine River. Lois passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Arlington Place in St. Joseph.
Lois Munholand was born May 6, 1920 at Little Falls, MN the daughter of Ezra and Mary (Logan) Munholand. At the age of 2 years, she moved with her family to McKinley Township near Backus. She married Harold Bishop on June 14, 1939 at her family home. They moved to Pine River in 2002 and Harold passed away shortly after. Lois moved to the Arlington Place in St. Joseph where she remained until her death.
Lois was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, rural Backus, the Deerfield Ladies Aid and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. She was also involved in numerous community organizations.
She enjoyed visiting, sewing, gardening, picking berries, caring for the neighborhood children and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her six children, Hugh (Liz) Bishop of Two Harbors, MN, Avis (Robert) Doherty of Sacramento, CA, Mary (Ted) Anderson of Brainerd, MN, Agnes (Bob) Faundeen of St. Cloud, MN, John (Patty) Bishop of Sebeka, MN and Kerry Bishop of Missouri; three brothers, Bob (Erna) Munholand of Arizona, Harry Munholand of California and Puz (Joleen) Munholand of Cross Lake, MN; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, one sister, Martha Qualley, one brother Gene Munholand and one granddaughter, Tara Faundeen.
