Lillian Jeanette Schafer was born on August 22, 1930, in Carlos, MN, the daughter of John and Mary Lindquist. Following her education she went on to become a beautician. On May 29, 1953, Lillian was united in marriage to Roy G. Schafer in Kasson, MN. They were able to share over 54 years of marriage before Roy passed away on Feb. 28, 2008. After their marriage the couple farmed near Utica, MN, and Lillian worked as a beautician and also in a nursing home. In October of 1980 they moved to Crosslake so they could fish to their hearts content. She also worked at the nursing home in Pine River but retired early so she could spend more time fishing with Roy. Lillian was very active in her community being involved in Crosslake Lutheran Church where she would bring her famous "pear pie" to the annual Yule Fest bake sale. She was also active in the Crosslake Game and Fish Club and the Clothes Closet and helped out at the Chamber of Commerce. Being an avid Twins fan on her 77th birthday she went to the Twins game with a "Circle me Bert" sign and was spotted by Bert who came and autographed her sign. She wrote numerous poems among which several were published. Playing cards was a passion and occupied many hours with her family and friends along with solving many jigsaw puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; husband, Roy; daughter Linda; son, Loren; grandchildren, Preston, Logan, and Sierra Schafer; sisters, Pauline, Olga, and Anna Mae; and brothers, Al, Rudy, Art, and Everett. Lillian will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Allen Schafer of Crosslake, Marlin (Mary Ellen) Schafer of Eau Claire, WI, and Lila Schafer of Vadnais Heights, MN; grandchildren, Jessica (Nate), Tessa and Preston; and great grandchildren, Elizabeth, McKenzie, Abigail and Jack.
