Levina Zora (Gregson Dahl) Farnam, 95, of Pine River passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Essentia Health in Brainerd. She was born March 6, 1916, in Minneapolis, MN to Burt and Hulda Gregson. In 1924 Levina and her twin sister, Leona, were adopted by Oscar and Ella Dahl of Guthrie, MN. They resided in Bemidji and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1934. After moving to Pine River, Levina worked at the Pine River State Bank, which was owned and operated by her father, Oscar Dahl.
On April 21, 1940 Levina married Lewis Farnam, in Becker, MN. They made their first home in St. Michael, MN before moving to Pine River in 1946. They had three sons: Theodore, Keith, and Dale. Levina and Lewis enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Levina enjoyed boating on the Whitefish Chain, needlework, reading, card playing, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Levina was a 50-year member and Past Matron of Eastern Star, charter member and first president of the American Legion Auxiliary in Pine River, member of Eradelphian Club, and a lifelong member of United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women's church circle in Pine River.
She is survived by two sons, Ted (Elaine) of Monticello; Keith (Agnes) of Pine River; daughter-in-law Jennifer Farnam of Pine River; a brother-in-law, Franklin "Bud" Kline of Monticello; eleven grandchildren, and twenty-nine great grandchildren.
Levina was preceded in death by her parents, Burt and Hulda Gregson, adoptive parents, Oscar and Ella Dahl, husband, Lewis, son Dale, sisters Lucy Gregson Galloway and Leona Kline, brothers Keith, Wilbert and James Gregson, and nephew Gregg Dahl Kline.
Service will be 11am Monday, June 27 at Pine River United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 pm at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River and one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
