Levi Larsen

September 1, 1959 — October 14, 2020

Levi Julius Larsen of Backus, MN passed away suddenly October 14, 2020 of heart failure.  Levi was born on September 1, 1959 to Melvin and Doris (Sawyer) Larsen.

Levi grew up in Minnesota where he graduated form Backus High School in 1977.  After high school he attended Bemidji State University for a few years before enlisting in the Navy.  He spent most of his Navy career as a Submariner traveling the world.

Upon leaving the Navy, Levi moved back to Northern Minnesota and took some additional college courses at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, MN while working at Grand View Lodge.  After several years of working at the resort, Levi decided to pursue truck driving, where he worked for Swift Transportation, delivering goods to various stores throughout the United States.  That is where he met his wife, Kaylee (Filler).  They were married on March 13, 2008.

In 2014, due to complications with his diabetes, he suffered kidney failure and was put on dialysis, causing his love of truck driving to come to an end.

Levi enjoyed hunting, fishing, and really anything outdoors. He loved spending quality time with his many friends, family and animals.

Levi was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Doris Larsen and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Levi leaves behind his wife, Kaylee; his sister, Pearl (Jimmy) Beamer; his brothers, Marvin, Victor (Johanna) and Harold Larsen; nieces: Noel Larsen, Sophia and Rosalie Larsen, Allison Thiel, RayElla and Braya Radke; nephews: Lathan Larsen, Kayson Radke and Cooper Thiel.

Celebration of Life will be 11 AM on Friday, October 23, 2020 at Church of the Nazarene in Backus, MN. Burial with military honors will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Backus immediately following the service.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
