Lester Franklin Wilbur Netley, age 87, of Pine River, MN, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. He was born June 13, 1925, in Lawton, Iowa. Lester served in the US Navy during WWII as a machinist mate in Hawaii. He was a long-time honorary member of Cuyuna Rock, Gem and Mineral Society. He worked at FMC (formally North Ordinance/Northern Pump or BAE Systems) in Minneapolis for 36 years, retiring in 1988. Lester loved his job and spoke highly of the people he worked with. He attended Central Lakes College, Brainerd, MN, for approximately 20 years after retiring, studying welding, engine repair and showing students antique engines.
Lester was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Netley; and brothers: Robert, Albert, Carl, and Arthur.
He is survived by nieces, nephews, and special friend, Linda Rasinski.
A prayer service will be held at 7 PM on Tuesday, April 2, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Moville, Iowa.
