Leroy Schmidt

Leroy Schmidt, 67 of Baxter formally of Morgan, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2021. Services will be 2pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel in Baxter. A visitation will be one hour prior.

Leroy was born on November 29, 1953 to Raymond and MaryJane (Plain) in Sleepy Eye, MN. He attended grade school at St. Michael’s in Morgan, MN. He attended high school at Morgan Public high school and continued his education at Willmar Vo-Tech for chefs training. On August 24, 1974, he married Susan Rose.

Leroy was a hard worker. He was a farmer, licensed contractor and carpenter. He began his career at Clements Lumber in Morgan. Upon moving to the Baxter area, he started working at Home Depot as a kitchen installer and then Menards as an estimator. Leroy was an avid football fan. He loved to cheer on the Minnesota Gophers and the Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed cooking and baking, and joking with everyone he met. Above all else, he loved spending his time with his family and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Leroy is survived by his wife; Sue, children; Becca (Marshall) Christopherson, Amy (Damon) Marchus, and Matt (Jen) Schmidt, grandchildren; Ava and Grady Marchus, Carter, Kelsey, Colton, and Collin Schmidt, one brother and five sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
