LeRoy E. Loucks, age 89, of Motley, MN, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at the Greater Staples Care Center. Services will be 1:30 PM, on Wednesday, July 11th, at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, with Pastor Les Crider officiating. Friends may call Tuesday evening, from 6 to8 PM, at the Brenny Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Motley Public Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
LeRoy Elbert Loucks was born on September 28, 1911, in Motley, MN, to Albert and Annie (Clemens) Loucks. It was in Motley that he grew up and attended public schools. He farmed in the Motley area for a few years before moving to Pillager where he worked at the Pillager Creamery for many years. When the creamery closed, LeRoy went to work in the Quality Control Department at Land-o-Lakes in Brainerd. Following his retirement LeRoy continued to live in Pillager until moving to Sunny Pines in Motley in 1986. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and picking berries.
LeRoy is survived by a daughter, Donna (Vivien) Griffith of Motley; a son, Robert (Joan) Loucks of Pillager; a brother, Cecil Loucks of Bovey, MN; 8 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 6 sisters.
