LeRoy Paul Freiborg of Fifty Lakes, MN formerly of St. Louis Park, MN, passed away peacefully on Oct. 11, 2022 at 87 years old. Born on March 7, 1935, LeRoy’s passion, dedication, and service to his family, to his career with the St. Louis Park Fire Department, and to his church were just some of the gifts he shared during his life. LeRoy served in the U.S. Army from 1954 –1956. LeRoy married his high school sweetheart on June 30, 1956 and they shared a wonderful, faith-filled 58 years together. We are at peace knowing that they are joyfully reunited.
LeRoy always had a way of making everyone around him smile and his great laugh can still be heard in the minds of those that knew him. Over the years, LeRoy was active in many sports including waterskiing, softball, and tennis. He shared many passions with his wife and loved spending time outdoors, woodworking, traveling, playing cards, and square dancing. His biggest sources of joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Now, whenever we have a bonfire, watching the sun set on East Fox Lake, we will listen to the calls of the loons and remember the many wonderful memories shared with LeRoy, in a space held so dearly to him and his wife.
LeRoy is survived by his children; son, Michael (Jan) Freiborg and daughter, Lynn, along with his cherished grandchildren; Ashley (Justin) Janson, Kirsten (David) Scheller, Victoria Barrett, and great grandchildren Cameron and Jack. He was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Barbara Jean Freiborg and his parents; Herman and Anna, and numerous brothers/sisters.
A private celebration of life service will be held in the coming months. LeRoy loved serving others and took pride in his time served as Firefighter, Driver, Captain, and Assistant Chief at the St. Louis Park Fire Department.
