Leroy Flickinger

December 20, 1963 — February 23, 2019

LeRoy Karmon Flickinger Jr., age 55, of Motley, passed away with his family at his side on Saturday, February 23, 2019, after a long courageous battle with ALS. He was born to Janet and Leroy Flickinger Sr. on December 20, 1963, in Staples. LeRoy graduated from Motley High School in 1982. He married Aletha Johnson on July 8, 1989, at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples. LeRoy was employed by Enberg Logging, Brown Timber and BNSF Railway. He enjoyed deer and elk hunting, camping, watching football, working with his railroad family and watching his kids participate in sports and dance. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Aletha; children: Lance Flickinger of Motley, Brandon Flickinger (Autumn) of Ashby, Kayla Flickinger (Michael) of Pillager, Melaine McNeil (Craig) of Hill City; grandchildren: Lily Flickinger, Cameron McNeil; mother, Janet Flickinger of Motley; brothers: Brian Flickinger (Louise) of Motley, Kevin Flickinger of Motley, Michael Flickinger of Motley; mother-in-law, Martha Holsapple of Staples; brothers-in-law, Lyndon Johnson (Linda) of Motley, Lyle Johnson (Lori) of Nisswa; sister-in-law, Linette Horn (Tom) of Dresser, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Flickinger Sr.; father-in-law, Duane Johnson; stepfather-in-law, Carl Holsapple; and brother-in-law, Billy Johnson.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Services will be 11 AM on Friday, March 8, at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will be held at the Motley Public Cemetery.
