Leonard Drew

Leonard William Drew, 85, of Randall, MN died on Monday, June 5, 2017 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial for Leonard will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10:30AM at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, MN with Father Jimmy Joseph officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 4:00-8:00PM at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, MN with a prayer service at 7:00PM and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment will be held at the Parish cemetery.

Leonard was born on March 31, 1932 in Sobieski, MN to William and Cecelia (Ringwelski) Drew. In 1938 his family moved to Randall, MN where he attended school. He married MaryAnn Gaffke on August 10, 1953. She passed away in 2000. He worked for Larson Boats until he was drafted to the Korean War. After the war, he returned to Larson Boats until he accepted the job of City Clerk in Randall. He worked for 30 years there until he retired and in his spare time he painted houses. After retiring he was a school bus driver. In 2003 he married Marie Moran Kempenich. Leonard enjoyed bingo, woodworking, puzzles, road trips, and playing pull tabs. He also liked to go fishing and hunting. Leonard cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He was a charter member of the Randall-Cushing Area Lions Club since 1985 and also a life member of the Randall VFW. Leonard was a retired Randall Fireman and also a St. James Catholic Church usher. Leonard will be remembered for his Irish humor and witty one liners.

Leonard is survived by his wife, Marie; daughters, Cynthia (Jeff) Dahl of New London, Debbie (Peter) Wippler of Randall, MN, Diane (Anthony) Trear of Corina, CA, Lorie (Tim) Strack of Randall, MN; sons, Michael (Diane) Drew of Randall, MN, Patrick Drew of Monticello, MN, twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; step-children, Sherry (Greg) Norton of Pillager, MN, Mike (Lori) Kempenich of Little Falls, MN, Anita (Steve) Larsen of Little Falls, MN, Craig (Yvonne) Kempenich of Randall, MN, and Diane (Bob) Fitzgerald of Bemidji, MN; six step grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild; sisters, Loretta Pelzer of Swanville, MN, Patty Riter of Anoka, MN; brother Denny (Sheila) Drew of Coon Rapids, MN; and sister-in-law, Louise Bauer Drew. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Cecelia; first wife, MaryAnn, great-grandson, Alex Pugh; brother, Gene Drew; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Pelzer. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall, MN.
