Leona Palmer

Leona J. Palmer, 91, of Brainerd, MN died peacefully on Sunday, October 14th, 2018 at Essentia Health/St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, MN surrounded by her loving family. Services for Leona will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, October 20th, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Brainerd, MN with visitation being held on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 4:00-8:00PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. A Luncheon will be held after services on Saturday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room in Baxter, MN. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd, MN.

Leona was born on May 20, 1927 in Brainerd, MN to Henry and Margaret (Kramer) Meyer. Leona married Verne Palmer on December 25, 1946 and together they owned Palmer Motor Company in Brainerd until Verne’s passing in 2004. She and Verne were blessed with 57 years of marriage. She enjoyed working with Verne, baking, sewing, and doing puzzles. Leona also liked to be in her flower gardens, watching the birds, and having holidays with the whole family at her home. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Leona is survived by her two siblings, Marie Dempsey and Art Meyer; four children, Jerry (Juana) Palmer, Jan Walters, Darrel (Carol) Palmer, Beverly (Gary) Dillow; grandchildren, James (Ryan) Palmer, Andrew (Brittany) Palmer, Matthew Palmer, Danielle Palmer, Bridgette Walters, Jon (Megan) Walters, Tammy Grater, Ryan Dillow, and Caityln Dillow; nine great-grandchildren, Josie, Brooke, Dave, Celia, Jackson, Noelle, Joshua, Justin, and Brittany; two great-great-grandchildren, Mariah and Alexis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Verne W. Palmer; grandsons, Richard and Robert; and brother, George. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
