Leona Olds

Leona E. Olds, age 96, of Staples, passed away Wednesday morning at the Lakewood Care Center in Staples. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 9, 2006, at the Staples United Methodist Church with Rev. Wes Johnson officiating. Interment will be in West Lyon Cemetery. Friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM Saturday at the Methodist Church. Leona Etta Olds was born on April 4, 1909, in Marrow, Arkansas. She was united in marriage to George Olds on Oct. 2, 1928, in Belle Fourche, SD. In 1949 the family moved to Sebeka, MN, where they farmed until George died in 1974. Leona then moved to Staples in 1975 where she did babysitting in her home for many years. She also enjoyed working in her own garden. In 1998 she moved to the Staples Care Center. Leona was preceded in death by her husband of 46 year, George; 2 sons, Max and Bob; and several brothers and sisters. She is mourned in passing by her sons, Jack (Charlotte) Olds of Owatonna, MN, and Don and (Renee) Olds of Staples, MN; 9 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples.
