Leola Mcallister

Leola McAllister, age 91, of Backus, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society, Pine River. Leola was born to Albert and Blanch (Rice) Eastvold on August 26, 1925, in Mildred, MN. She married Everett "Fat" McAllister on September 21, 1946. Leola worked at Breezy Point Resort for many years and prior to that had worked at the Pine River Elementary School. Leola was very active in 4-H activities with her children along with operating a small dairy farm. She also raised a large garden each year. She enjoyed many bike rides and nature walks with her grandchildren.

Leola is survived by her daughters: Alice Schultz (Jack) of Nisswa, Connie Peppin (Patrick) of Rogers; son, Maurice of Backus; grandchildren: Amy Schultz Stahnke (Justin), Bill Schultz (Lisa), Richard McAllister (Carrie), Jason McAllister (Tanya), Cathy Larson (Craig), Ashley Vadis (Jake), Andrew Peppin; and 17 great grandchildren.

Leola was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Charlene McAllister; granddaughter, Christine Peppin; brothers: Lloyd, Carl and Eldon Eastvold.

Services will be 1 PM on Tuesday, September 13, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
