Lena Kruckow

Lena Kruckow, age 98, of Backus, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008, at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center in Pine River. She was born March 20, 1910 in Backus to Eugene and Ida Sawyer. Lena cared for many foster children in her home. She served on the Ponto Lake Township Board for many years.
Lena is survived by her daughters: Norma Hanson of Goodridge, Laura Norried of Ankenny, IA, Janette Ferrarese of Oakdale, CA; sons: Roland Kruckow and Chris Kruckow, both of Backus, Norbert Kruckow of Minneapolis; sister, Marjorie Palsson of Seattle, WA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; daughter, Loretta; brothers, Leslie, Paul and Kenneth; and sister, Inez.
Services will be 2 PM on Saturday, September 13 at the Church of the Nazarene in Backus, with Pastor Greg Baker officiating. Burial will be in Ponto Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
