Leland 'Lee' Moe

July 17, 1947 — July 23, 2024

Cushing

CUSHING- Leland C. Moe, 77, died unexpectedly July 23, 2024, at Lakewood hospital. He was born July 17, 1947, in Minneapolis, MN, son of Fred and Marguerite (Sveum) Moe.

Lee graduated from Minneapolis Washburn high school, class of 1965. He went on to receive some continued education at the U of M, before working full time at Merit Gage, a company founded by his father Fred. Lee went on to co-own and operate that business with his late brother Marshall. Lee was able to pass those reins and legacy onto his own son, Ryan, in the later years. Lee met and then married his former wife Geraldine (Hermanson) Moe in March of 1983. Together over a span of 27 years, they had and raised two children, Ryan and Cassandra, in the Prior Lake/Savage area.

Lee enjoyed golfing, and was a longtime member of Golden Valley Country Club. He was a member of the Shriner’s Club and valued being charitable and generous across several areas of his life. He relished in sharing rides with people in his antique boat and his classic mustang. Lee loved to travel. He took his family on many vacations over the years. He was especially fond of his road trips down south through Georgia and Florida, where he vacationed and gathered with longtime colleagues and life long friends, whom he came to consider more like family.

Later in life, Lee retired up north to his cabin on Fish Trap Lake. A property that has been in his family through generations. He found a loving, caring partner to spend the last 15 years of his life with in his girlfriend, Laurie Kulzer. They spent nearly everyday together and shared many miles on their daily drives through backroads. They share a spiteful cat named “Butchy”, who Lee absolutely adored and that adored him back (and only him).

Lee had a quiet stoicism to him. He was jovial and so funny sometimes unexpectedly. He could be quite serious, yet, was able to laugh the hardest at the everyday absurdity of life. He was a very loving Father, and did his best to show that love through supporting his kids to be their best in many ways.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Marshall Moe, and Randall Moe; Niece, Amy Portillo. He is survived and Loved by his sister, Pricilla (Moe) Joyce; daughter, Cassandra Moe; son, Ryan and his wife Katie Moe; grandchild, Lydia Moe; partner, Laurie Kulzer; Nieces, Carolyn Joyce Clark, Jennifer (Joyce) Lazarchic and their children Lauren, Brianna, Haleigh and Logan, along with many life long friends.

A service of remembrance will be held August 16th at Brenny Funeral Home, Randall, MN. 1-2PM service for close friends and family, 2-4pm public celebration of life luncheon in honor of Lee at Brenny Funeral home, 301 Pacific Ave, Randall, MN. Interment to follow at Scandia Valley.
