Layne E. Carson, 95, of Staples, MN died Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples, MN. Funeral services are pending, and burial will be held at Cogbill Cemetery in Wynne, AR.
Layne was born March 26, 1920 in Wynne, AR to Arthur and Louella (Shropshire) Carson. He was educated in Wynne and went on to the University of Tennesee Medical School in Memphis, graduating in 1943. Layne served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theater. After his Honorable discharge, he went into private practice in Wynne, AR. He returned to the military again serving from 1949-1958. Layne was united in marriage to Minnie Matthews on September 28, 1943 in Memphis, TN. He had a family practice in Homestake Mining Company in Lead, SD, then retired and worked in primary care at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, AR. Layne retired and lived in Little Rock, until three years ago, when they were here visiting for Christmas, Minnie died and he stayed with his daughter and her husband.
Layne is survived by his daughter, Holly (Marc) DeBow of Staples, MN; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Louella; wife, Minnie; and three brothers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
