Lawrence Frank Muehlbauer, 87, of Brainerd, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 in Ramsey, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 11 AM, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Nisswa, MN. Friends are welcome to gather at the church Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM and one hour prior to services. Interment is scheduled for 2 PM on Thursday at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Lawrence was born September 12, 1921 in Buckman, MN, the son of Wolfgang and Christina (Zormeier) Muehlbauer. On November 10, 1942 Lawrence was united in marriage to Dorothy Van Hale in Lastrup, MN. He was drafted into the US Army and served in the European Theatre from 1942 until 1945. He was a member of the 104th Timberwolf Division. After his honorable discharge, Lawrence lumberjacked in Northern Minnesota and polished granite near St. Cloud before settling in Anoka where he worked construction for Adolfson-Peterson Construction Company in Minneapolis. Following retirement, Lawrence and Dorothy moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area where they have thoroughly enjoyed spending their time. Lawrence liked the outdoors. He was a member of the Nisswa American Legion, St. Christophers Catholic Church and the Laborers International Union of North America, # 563.
He will be missed by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy; his children, Lawrence (Cecile) Muehlbauer, of Lake Shore, Ron (Joann) Muehlbauer, of Lake Shore, Sandra (Ron) Ives, of Ramsey, Rod (Brenda) Muehlbauer, of Andover, and Brenda Rogers, of Princeton; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert Muehlbauer, of Anoka; and sisters, Regina Schamal, of Pierz, Clara Tretter, of Sauk Rapids, and Mary Lou Schneider, of Waite Park. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley; his parents; and six brothers.
