Lawrence Hall

Lawrence H. Hall, 83, of Motley, Minnesota, passed away November 14, 2009 at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples, Minnesota. Funeral services will be held Thursday November 19, 2009 at 1:00 PM. At Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Steve Sveom officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2009, from 5  7 PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel, and one hour prior to the services at the Church on Thursday.

Lawrence was born at home in Staples Township and lived in Staples , Minnesota for 45 years of his life, moving to Motley only recently. He married Marilyn Gibbs on April 5, 1950, in Staples. He worked as a mechanic and for 20 years as a custodian for the Staples Schools before retirement. Lawrence loved to visit with just about anyone. Joking, kidding and teasing were always part of the conversation. He spent time tinkering with engines of all types and was able to fix anything. He took pride in his tractors and in always having a neat and orderly place. Lawrence enjoyed listening to old time country music and dancing. He met his wife Marilyn at a dance.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Marilyn of almost 60 years; children, Blain of Long Prairie, Gordon (Nancy) of Fergus Falls, Bryan (Renee) of Staples, Sandra Bryce (Merle) of Sartell; great grandchildren, Amanda Hall, Ryan (Amy) Hall, Jared (Jessica) Hall, Jeremy Hall, and Katie (Peter) Boyle, Nathan Hall, Kelsey Hall and Sarah (Jacob) Brix, Sabrina Bryce; 8 great grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Carmen Sowers and Kevin Sowers; sisters, Lavina (Herman) Hitzmann of Woodbury, Norma Minor of Hibbing, Lois (Roy) Mertens of Staples, Lorraine Mertens of Hibbing; brothers, Leonard (Helen) of Staples, Lloyd of Staples; and many nieces and nephews.
