Lawrence Brau

Lawrence Cletus Brau, 74, of Brainerd, died at the St. Cloud Veterans Administration Hospital on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 14 at Holy Family Catholic Church on Bull Dog Lake in Hillman, MN. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 4-8 PM on Friday evening at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Interment with Military Honors will take place at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. Memorials preferred.

Larry was born December 3, 1939, in Granite Rock Township, MN, the son of Raymond Anton and Marina Hedwig (Brau) Frericks. Following high school graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served for ten years. In 1959, he was united in marriage to Judith Ann Hansen. After military service, Larry owned and operated Singer Sewing Machine Stores and Twin Pines Resort, as well as raising beef cattle and starting Brau's Hatchery. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Knights of Columbus. Larry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting and fishing, and traveling. He also enjoyed sports and playing cards.

Larry will be missed by his wife, Judy; children, John (Julie), of Sauk Centre, Michael (Karen), of Ogilvie, David (Pamela), of Choctaw, OK, Karen of Eden, WI, Gary (Lynn) of Little Falls, James (Karen), of Brainerd, and Patrick (Nicky), of Pierz; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, Darlene (Vincent), of Minneota, Mary Ann (Delmar), of New Ulm, Dale (Lynette), of Lucan, and LeRoy (Rosemary), of Redwood Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents; great-granddaughter, Bella; brother-in-law, Jerry Miller; and niece, Cheryl Potter.
