Lawerence F. Cooper, Sr. of Motley, MN died Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at his home.
Services for Lawerence will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN with visitation one hour prior to services, with Pastor Barry Klein officiating.
Lawerence was born on May 31, 1939 to Frederick and Theda (Shaver) Cooper in Amiret, Minnesota. He grew up in Verndale, Minnesota and graduated from high school there in 1957. Lawerence served in the Army from 1957-1959. In May of 1961, Lawerence married Thelma Snook in Verndale. They later divorced in 1965. Lawerence was a truck driver for 18 years living in Minneapolis, retiring in 1977. He then moved from Minneapolis to Motley, where he made his home until the time of his death. Lawerence married Mableann Verbeck in Motley in 1983, and they later divorced in 2010. Lawerence loved fishing, going to the bar drinking his diet Coke and playing pulltabs.
Lawerence is survived by his children, David Cooper, Cindy Holland, May Gunter, Bruce Cooper, Bill Cooper, Kathy Cooper, Heather Jaramillo, Twilla Cooper, Tuesday Weekley, Lawerence Cooper, Jr.; sisters, Marlys Snook, Vicki Haviland, Patsy Cannon, Connie (Mark) Altendorf; brothers, Danny (Vada) Cooper, James (Pam) Cooper; 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Delaine, grandson Quinton; and sister, Marie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
