LaVonne Ruth Clink, 90, of Baxter, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society – Bethany in Brainerd. Services for LaVonne will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 7, 2018 at Fremont Cemetery in rural Cresco, IA.
LaVonne was born September 29, 1928 in Sioux Falls South Dakota to Arthur and Hilda Sophia (Bjerke) Lein. She attended school in Lyons, South Dakota thru the 10th grade, graduating from Sherburn, Minnesota, attending a year of trade school in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and working for Allied Roofing Company.
LaVonne and Charles Carol Clink were united in marriage September 2, 1951 at the Fremont Lutheran Church. They farmed in Winneshiek County, Iowa. Together they had eight children: Ruthie (Dave) Fritcher, David (Julie) Clink. Donnie (Nelda) Clink, Dale (Brenda) Clink, Dwain (Ruth) Clink, Dean (Monica) Clink, Daryl (Stacy) Clink, and Danny (Mary) Clink, 22 Grandchildren, and 10 great Grandchildren.
LaVonne worked as a teacher’s aide in the Howard Winneshiek School, Cresco, Iowa. From 1973 to 1978 they owned and operated Twin Points Resort, Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. LaVonne lived on Mayo Lake for 27 years employed in housekeeping at Breezy Point Resort and in the kitchen of the State Hospital in Brainerd, Minnesota.
Then she resided in Pequot Lakes 2005 to 2016, Good Samaritan Woodland Assisted Living and Good Samaritan Bethany Nursing Home Brainerd, Minnesota until her death.
LaVonne enjoyed participating in the circle at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes, quilting, “Stretch and Pray”, and all church activities.
Her home was filled with large family gatherings, good food, lots of love, and laughter. Her greatest joy was spending time fishing, reading books, and playing board games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents Art and Sophie, In-Laws Bill and Nora Clink, Son and Daughter-in-Law Dale and Brenda Clink. Grandsons Scott and Aaron Clink. Brothers Glen and Bob Lein.
She is survived by her 7 children, 20 grandchildren, and 10 Great grandchildren. Sister-in-Laws Audrey and Jan Lein.
