Laurence Maschler

August 8, 1912 — July 16, 2003

Laurence Henry Maschler, age 90, of Cushing died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at St. Gabriels Medical Center in Little Falls. Laurence Henry Maschler was born August 8, 1912 in Little Elk Township of Todd County to Joseph and Caroline (Pechan) Maschler. He attended school in the Pine Island School District 105. Laurence was married to Rosina Winkler on October 25, 1937 in Browerville, Minnesota. In 1942 they moved to Cushing where they built their home and outbuildings. This is where he farmed and presently lived. He worked throughout the area constructing many churches, homes and buildings. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He served on the District 151 School Board in Little Elk Township. He enjoyed playing the accordin at many barn dances. He also enjoyed woodworking and observing wildlife including deer, turkeys and the occasional bear.
Laurence is survived by Rosina, his wife of 66 years; one daughter Eileen Hoheisel and husband Mike of Pierz, one son Robert Maschler and wife Carmen of Randall, one sister Loretta Jeziorski of Browerville, four grandchildren Doug Maschler and wife Karen, Greg, Cari and Marty Schommer, three step-grandchildren Curt, Nick and Lucas Hoheisel and six great grandchildren Zach, Alyssa, Austin, Alex, Emily and Tyler. Laurence was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry and brother Mike.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 19, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Randall, with Father Al Quade officiating. Friends may visit on Friday, July 18, 2003 from 5:00-8:30 p.m. at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall with parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. Rosary by Christian Mothers at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 9:00-10:00 a.m., at Brenny Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery in Randall. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials directed to the Laurence Maschler Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date.
