Laurel Hultgren

Laurel E. Hultgren, 61, of Crosslake, died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Services for Laurel will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 8 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN with Pastor Kristin Foster officiating. Friends are welcome to gather starting at 11:00 AM on Wednesday.
Laurel was born September 20, 1947 in Denver, IA, the daughter of Clifton and Wilma (Bast) Krogstad. After graduating from high school, Laurel was united in marriage to Carl Hultgren on June 5, 1965 in Bruno, MN. She worked in retail for a number of years. Fifteen years ago, Laurel moved to the Brainerd Lakes area from Mountain Iron, MN. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and an active participant in the church choir and womens groups. Laurel enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking, and collecting pewter animals. She appreciated hardwork and was active at the Crosslake Community Center.

Laurel will be missed by her husband, Carl; daughter, Annette E. (Curt) Piri, of Mountain Iron, MN; son, Craig (Lisa) H. Hultgren, of Mountain Iron, MN; mother, Wilma Krogstad, of Moose Lake, MN; siblings, Mary Meier, of Bruno, MN, Shari (Lyle) Nelson, of Arp, TX, Kay (Ben) Overbaugh, of FL, James (June) Krogstad, North Branch, MN, William Butch(Char) Krogstad, of Askov, MN, Carol (Bob) Culsrud, of Finlayson, MN, Russell (Joy) Krogstad, of Askov, MN, and Tony Krogstad, of WI; brother-in-law, Donald Modrow; grandchildren, Zachary, Josh, and Deven Rowe, and Casey and Logan Hultgren; and step-grandchildren, Kyle and Lukas Piri. She was preceded in death by her father, Clifton; her sister, Janice Modrow; and her brother-in-law, Curtis Meier.
