Laurel Head

Laurel Head, 85, of Crosslake, died Saturday June 13, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be Wednesday June 17, 2009 at 10:30 AM at Immaculate Heart Church in Crosslake with Fr Mike Patullo officiating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley. Relatives will receive friends from 5 till 7 PM on Tuesday evening at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
Laurel is survived by her husband, Harry; two daughters, Evelyn (Danny) Hoffa of Dublin, GA and Lorraine (Ed) Brewer of Lenexa, KS; four sons, George (Phyllis) Head of Houston, TX, William (Barbara) Head of Brooklyn Park, MN, Charles (Renee) Head of Alexandria, MN, and John (Cathy) Head of DuPont, WA; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two sisters, Evelyn Jansen of Derby, KS and Delores Ferch of Robbinsdale, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and three sisters.

Laurel Head was born March 3, 1924 in Ferney, SD daughter of Charles and Eva (Orr) Winburn. She graduated from High School in Deadwood, SD. She was united in marriage to Harry E. Head on January 17, 1950 in Rapid City, SD. They moved to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area where they lived for 28 years before moving to Macon, GA until their retirement. Following retirement, Laurel and Harry moved to Crosslake in 1988. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crosslake and a member of the CCW. She especially enjoyed her family and grandchildren. Laurel liked playing bridge, reading, sewing and cooking.
