Larry R. Smith, age 66, of rural Motley, passed away early Thursday morning at his home. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, Oct. 8 at the Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at the Randall Funeral Home and for one hour prior to Services at the Church on Monday. Interment will be in the Motley Public Cemetery. Larry Richard Smith was born Jan. 5, 1941, on the family farm near Lincoln. He was the 4th of 12 children of Ernest and Edna (Stroman) Smith. He attended school in Lincoln and graduated from Motley Pubic High School. In 1959 he joined the Army serving until 1961. Returning to Minnesota he joined his father and brothers at Smith Bros. Construction operating heavy equipment. On May 28, 1966, he was united in marriage to Mary Ann Kaspers. He worked on construction projects all around the Twin Cities before retiring from Fratalone Construction. They were able to share 32 years together before she died in 1998. In July of 2004, he married Sandie Stuckers. They made their home on the family farm near Lincoln until the time of his death. Among the things he enjoyed were dancing, fishing and hunting trips with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Edna; first wife, Mary Ann, and a brother, Roger. Larry leaves behind his wife, Sandie; brothers, Duane (Glady) Smith, and Dennis (Rose) Smith; sisters, Betty Ann (Bill) Evans, Carol (Duane) Mellesmoen, Janice (Ervin) Eberhardt, Sharon (Richard) Lundorff, Linda Smith, Diane Kasper, Deb Smith, and Barb (Steve) Dvorak; 6 stepchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
