Larry M. ‘Hap’ Collette of Brainerd passed away peacefully at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dorolese ‘Dolly’ Collette, and their daughters, Angela and Amanda Collette of Brainerd. He cherished his grandchildren: Alexandra of Minneapolis, Emily of New York City, Michael of Minneapolis, Samuel of California, Lucas of Brainerd, Carly of Bemidji, and Zoe of St. Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Paula Collette, and his sister Patricia ‘Babe’ Danks.
Born in Shrewsbury, England, Larry emigrated to the United States as an infant, sailing on the Queen Mary with his mother, Elizabeth, after World War II. Larry led an active lifestyle until his diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease, which he faced with courage.
A true family man, Larry had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed dancing with Dolly. He worked for 37 years as a millwright at Potlatch Paper Mill in Brainerd before founding his own construction company, EBCO, where he continued to work for many years.
An avid hunter, fisherman, and craftsman, Larry’s passions were many. In his later years, his faith in God became a profound source of comfort and guidance.
Larry will be remembered for his warmth, love for family, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
