Lacey J. Kuschel, age 35, of Sebeka, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at her home. She was born to Londale and Betsy Kuschel on May 6, 1981. She graduated from Sebeka High School with honors and received an Associates Degree in Horticulture and Greenhouse Management.
Lacey is survived by her daughter, Aspen Rein; parents, Londale and Betsy Kuschel; brother, LD Kuschel; sister, Kelly Fuhrer (Aaron); grandmothers, Janice Evensen and Stella Kuschel; niece, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Tom Evensen and Morris Kuschel.
Lacey was born with a fierce free spirit and was tough from day one. She rode her pony alone when she was two and never looked back. LD and Lacey's friends will be sharing stories with Aspen when she is old enough to hear them. Lacey competed in Little Britches and High School rodeos and joined the Women's Professional Rodeo Association when she was 18. In 2013 Lacey trained and rode the national champion WPRA futurity horse. She also competed in 4-H and FFA and showed cattle from Cass County to Denver. She was also a Golden Gloves boxer in Canada and the surrounding states. Lacey was a gifted and talented horse trainer and enjoyed watching horses she started go on and do well with their owners. She was loyal and kept her friends close. Lacey passed away holding her daughter in her arms. In Lacey's mind, Aspen was the best thing that ever happened to her and she loved her more than life itself.
