Kyler Wyatt Huckabay Patillo was born on Oct. 29, 1996, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on Sept. 26, 2020. Kyler graduated in 2015 from Pine River High School. At age 18 he joined the Minnesota National Guard and has proudly served his country ever since, including a deployment to the Middle East.
There are almost 24 years of memories, stories and life achievements that could be talked about, but we all know that Kyler would want this to be kept simple. Kyler was full of love, passion and joy. He had a heart full of love for all his friends and family whether they were blood, military or church family and he loved us all fiercely. He had a passion for what he believed in and for helping others in whatever capacity he could. He loved God and he strove to touch as many lives with that love as possible. Kyler, lived life to the fullest and took joy in the simplest of things like fishing and spending time at the lake, singing and playing his guitar and spending time with family and friends. One of Kyler’s mot endearing traits was his humor and witty sarcasm. When he was 12 years old his favorite shirt read “Sarcasm – It’s what I do best”. Kyler had an infectious laugh and all you had to do was hear that laugh followed by his little giggle and you were done for.
Kyler was a hardworking man and was employed at Heim Log Homes as a log crafter. Kyler had once said, “Hard work and talent are both equally important. No matter how much hard work you put into something it still may fail if you don’t have the skills to make it succeed”. At home he created flower beds out of logs, also benches and wood carved spoons. Kyler met Abagale Abear, April of 2017, where they built their life together in Backus Minnesota. Kyler and Abby attended the Backus Church of the Nazarene, where he helped lead the youth group and played guitar in the leadership band. Kyler always knew how to make you laugh and always knew what to say to anybody that needed help. Kyler loved his army family and was truly one of a kind.
When you were a baby your mom always said you smiled with your eyes. We are all going to miss that twinkle in your beautiful hazel eyes and that sweet dimple-faced grin. You were and will always be a blessing and a gift from God to all that had the privilege of knowing and loving you.
Kyler was preceded in death by his grandma Maxwell, Grandpa Art and Papa Larry. Left to cherish Kyler’s memory are his mom, Gena Hackabay; dad, Gail Coslow and family; maternal grandparents, Papa Ron Huckabay and Grandma Sawney; Nana Day Motta; paternal grandma, MeMe Sue; great grandmother, Nita Huckabay; sister, Brittany Young (Austin), niece and nephews, Clancee Mae, Dynlee, Everett and Fynnton; brother, Cameron Huckabay; sister, Holli Hunter and family; the love of his life, Abby Abear and family; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members.
