Kris Johnson

Kris Kenneth Johnson, 35, of Baxter, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, MN after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A gathering celebrating Kris' life will be held Sunday, January 18 from 1-5 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with services at 4 PM.
Kris was born September 29, 1973 in Brainerd, MN, the son of Gust and Juanita (Gallant) Johnson. He grew up in Brainerd and graduated from high school in 1992. In 1998, Kris was united in marriage to Sharlene Swan. Kris was goal-orientated and held himself to high standards - two attributes that made him an excellent business man. He was a furniture craftsman who owned and operated Backwoods Furniture.

Kris was a devoted family man. He was a great husband and a wonderful father who loved his kids. He truly had a heart of gold and enjoyed helping others when ever he could. Kris was down to earth and liked to hunt, fish, and spend time with his friends. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Sharlene; his children, Joseph "Joey" and Sarah; his mother, Juanita, of Brainerd; his brothers, Aaron (Laura) Johnson and niece, Shaylyn, of Brainerd and Eric (Kara) Johnson and nephew, Tyler, of Brainerd; and his sister, Katie Johnson and nephew, Anthony, of Brainerd. He will also be greatly missed by his aunts; uncles; cousins; best friend, Tim Fischer; and his beloved dog, Gunner. He was preceded in death by his father, Gust.
