Kirby Joe Hahn, age 62, passed away on Tuesday August 28, 2018 at his home in Brainerd, MN. Funeral Services for Kirby will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 12:00PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN with visitation one hour prior to services. He was born in Fargo, North Dakota to Lavern and Lavonne Hahn. Kirby is survived by his wife, Sally Hahn; two sons, Travis (Amber) and Adam (Amy); and their mother, Kathy; along with four granddaughters, Harper, Hayley, Georgia, and Nell. He is also survived by three sisters, Pam Swinney, Holly (Bill) Stroh, Jeri Walter; brother Kyle (Debra) Hahn; In-laws Gary (Marcy) Sanders, Mike (Valerie) Sanders, Kim (Mitch) Armstrong, and Cindy (Rory) Leinen; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Kirby had a passion for flying. He was a self- employed crop duster in North Dakota for 37 years and continued to work in the business up until his death. He was also an avid fisherman, hunter and would love to go enjoy either one of those any chance he got. He also enjoyed being a grandpa and all that came with loving four little girls who had their grandpa wrapped around their fingers. One of Kirby’s favorite times of the year was when he took his two sons on their annual father/son fishing trip to Lake of the Woods. He loved to “tinker” in his shop with many different projects, sometimes bouncing from one to another. Kirby was a very smart man; some say he even had a photographic memory. Many who knew Kirby, knew he told it like it was, and that’s what people loved about him. Kirby always saw the cup as half full. He had a big heart, was sensitive, and had so much compassion for others. You would always get an honest answer without judgment from him. He had a heart of gold to those whom he truly cared about. He loved his wife and family and always let them know that. Kirby had true unconditional love and he will be missed dearly by so many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lavern and Lavonne. A luncheon will follow services at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
