Kevin Rogers

July 15, 1965 — June 22, 2017

Kevin Rogers, age 51, of Pequot Lakes, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. Kevin’s visitation will be Monday, June 26, from 5-8:00 pm at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, and will continue at the church during the hour prior to Tuesday’s service. His memorial service will be Tuesday, June 27, at 11 am, at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.
Kevin David Rogers was born July 15, 1965 in St. Paul, to Loren and Joyce (Pitcher) Rogers, and grew up with a sister, Kathy Rankin. He attended school in Cottage Grove, and was active in Boy Scouts. Following high school, he attended St. Cloud State University, while working as a cook in Cottage Grove restaurants. A talented musician, Kevin was the lead singer for Friday night services at Camp Jim, where he worked as a counselor, cook, and performer for many years. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1988, with a B.S. in business management and a psychology minor. He was awarded the University Award for Excellence in Leadership.
Following college graduation, Kevin worked as the general branch manager for G&K Services for eight years. In 1996, he became a branch manager for Health East, eventually working with Apria Healthcare. His strong management and leadership abilities led him to a position as director of business development and human relations at Goldleaf Plastics in 2004, and then to a sales and operations management position with Rotochopper, in 2008. He began working for North Central Medical Supply and Equipment in Brainerd during 2010, and became the owner of that company four years ago. Kevin was married three times, and found that the third time truly was a charm. In April of 2015, he and Gretchen Bombenger were legally married at Camp Jim, followed by a destination wedding ceremony on the beach in Mexico.
Kevin was a passionate sports fan, following the Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Wild teams. He was an active supporter of youth hockey in the Lakes Area, and was involved with the Northern League Lightning Hockey Association. His love of music was lifelong, and he sang with several bands. His most recent band was the group AKoustic. He enjoyed home improvement projects. Above all, Kevin was a warm and compassionate family man who loved his time with family and friends.
Kevin will be forever remembered and missed by his loving wife, Gretchen; and six children, Heather O’Grady of Chaska, son-in-law Jamie O’Grady of Chaska, Brandon Rogers of St. Cloud, Hunter Bradford of Sartell, Ethan Thomas of Pequot Lakes, and Chloe Rogers of Pequot Lakes.
