Kevin Murphy

Kevin Paul Murphy, 60, of Fifty Lakes, Minnesota died on May 6th, 2016, in Pine River, after a brave battle with cancer.
Kevin was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on August 21, 1955 to John and Peggy Murphy. He graduated from Aquinas High School and the University of Wisconsin. He was an independent businessman in Fifty Lakes, supplying forestry products to Sam's Clubs, Home Depot and other building and nursery suppliers.
Known for his dry wit, keen sense of humor and upbeat personality, Kevin was an avid daily runner, only stopping, he said, when the temperature "reached 20 below".

Kevin is survived by his 14-year-old daughter, Amanda, to whom he was devoted, and who delighted him by participating in Special Olympics Minnesota and bringing home many medals and awards. He is also survived by his wife, Cindy.

Last fall, while undergoing advanced cancer treatment, Kevin still found the strength to take Amanda to a family wedding in San Francisco and to take her to LegoLand in San Diego. The purpose of the trip, Kevin said, was to create memories for Amanda that would "last a lifetime."

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 20, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Special Olympics of Minnesota would be appreciated.
