Kathryn Riener, formerly Carry, age 82, of Cushing passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the Clarissa Care Center. Her Funeral Mass will be, Tuesday, September 4, 11:00 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Motley with Fr. Peter Kirchner officiating. The Wake will be, Monday evening from 4-7 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples with Rosary at 6:30 and Parish Prayers at 6:45.
Kathryn was born on September, 22 1924 in Fawn Lake Township to Frank and Alma Pogreba. She grew up outside of Cushing, first attending country school and then graduating from Staples High School in 1942. After school she worked briefly in St. Paul packing rations for the war. In July of 1943 she was united in marriage to Howard Carry. Together they raised a large family and farmed. After the death of her husband in 1990, she continued to live on the homestead until April 1996 when she married Francis Riener. They resided in Seattle, Washington for a short time and then returned to Minnesota to be near her family. Kathryn enjoyed dancing, music, deer hunting, gardening, crafts, and baking, but nothing compared to having her children and grandchildren around.
Survivors are her husband, Francis Riener of Seattle, WA; children, Howard Jr. Carry (Norma Niemeyer) of Browerville, Janice Macho of Brainerd, Darrell (Kirsten) Carry of Staples, Ronald (Agnes) Carry of Cushing, Judy (Duane) Line of Brainerd, Doug (Lori) Carry of Cushing, Gary (Bernadette) Carry of Browerville, and Arnie (Jackie) Carry of Randall; 29 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Ruble and Delores Luke; brother, Bob Pogreba; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Carry; her parents; sisters, Florence and Margaret; infant daughter, Mary; and infant granddaughter, Michelle.
