Kathryn Bergman

Kathryn Kay (Thompson) Bergman, 46, of Duluth, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014. She was born in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Gerald and Ellen Thompson. She grew up in Pequot Lakes, MN, where she graduated in 1986. She married the love of her life, Gary N. Bergman, Jr., on April 12, 2008. They resided in Sauk Rapids, MN, until 2012, when they moved to the Duluth area. She was the girl with the golden heart and the smile to match. Kathy fought years with her diabetes and the complications that went with it, but always seemed to overcome her adversities with a positive attitude. Kathy was a fan of tattoos and recently this past summer had this saying put on her right forearm, "Do not fear, I am with you - Isaiah 41:10? She adored her 2 Dachshunds, Coco & Simba, whom she rescued from the humane society. She loved live music and enjoyed the bands that her husband, Gary, had played in, making many new friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Maxine Thompson and Oscar and Gertrude Olson. She is survived by her husband, Gary N. Bergman, Jr., of Duluth, MN; parents, Jerry and Ellen Thompson of Pequot Lakes, MN; brothers, Mark Thompson of Saint Louis Park, MN, and Eric Thompson of Pine River, MN; mother-in-law, Mary Bergman of Duluth, MN, brother-in-law, Shane Bergman of Duluth, MN; sister-in-law, Tammy Bergman of Las Vegas, NV; nieces, Keely and Aaliyah; and special care taker, her aunt, Sandy Gill.

Kathy's mom, Ellen, was her biggest inspiration and would like to say that, "On this day God reached out and took our precious Kathy home. She had been waiting for him to come."


A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Grace United Methodist Church, 29286 State Hwy. 371, Pequot Lakes, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
