Katherine M. Hollister, age 79, of Staples, passed away at the Lakewood Health System Hospital on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 6th, at 2:00 PM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7, and one hour prior to mass, at the Brenny Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Katherine was born on May 24, 1932, in Motley, MN, to Wallace and Kathryn (Loftis) Scruppie. She grew up there, and graduated from the Motley High School. She married Robert Hollister and together they raised six children. Katherine worked many jobs over the years, with her last being, Brothers III Furniture, which she retired from in the late 1990's. She loved to spend time at the lake, fishing, and visiting with family and friends. She was a huge Timberwolves fan, even taking naps so she could stay awake for late games. She was a wonderful listener and touched many lives.
Katherine is survived by her children, Jeff (Colleen) of Owatonna, Kathy (Kip) Svidal of Devil's Lake, ND, Robert (Robin) of Pillager, Pat Hollister (Jeff Bentler) of Minnetonka, Shirley (Dan) Goff of Lino Lakes, and Tom (Becky) of Shoreview; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Connie Dittbenner; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Wallace and Kathryn; and her stepfather, Paul Irsfeld.
