Katherine Fawcett

Katherine Fawcett, age 91, of Brainerd, passed away early Wednesday morning at St. Josephs Medical Center in Brainerd. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 12, 2008, at the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Katherine Loretta Fawcett was born on May 30, 1917, in Canby, MN, the daughter of Hugh and Katherine (Andrews) McClain. After graduating from Canby High School she moved to Worthington, MN, to work and where she met George. On October 10, 1940, she married George Fawcett in Duluth. After marriage they lived in Duluth for a while but moved around a lot because of Georges work. In 1958 they moved to Brainerd where she became a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Cinosam Ladies Club. Among the things she enjoyed were flower gardening, fishing, she loved to travel and was always available to help take care of her family and friends. They enjoyed wintering in Mission, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Katherine; a brother, William McClain; sisters, Dorothy Vonderharr, Ellen Britten, Gertrude Smith, and Alice Rupp. Katherine will be lovingly missed by her husband of 68 years, George; and a brother, Oliver (Velora) McClain of Parkers Prairie, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
