Katherine Anderson, age 90, of Motley passed away peacefully and went to be home with her Lord on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Lakewood Health System Care Center. Memorial services will be Saturday, December 3, at 11 AM, at Motley Free Methodist Church. Friends and family may visit at the church prior to services, from 9-11:00 AM. Interment will be at Motley City Cemetery.

Katherine Mae Anderson was born February 3, 1926 in Grove Lake Township, near Glenwood, to James W. McDougle and Olive “Ollie” (Alberts) McDougle. In 1969, she was married to Phillip H. Anderson. She worked as a cook at Island View Lodge for many years, and also cooked at several other places. Her love of cooking led her to collect cookbooks and new recipes, which she prepared for her family to try. Katherine baked and decorated many, many beautiful wedding cakes and birthday cakes for family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting, and raising dogs. She was a member of Staples Alliance Church for many years and, after she could no longer drive, attended Motley Free Methodist Church with her son, and found a wonderful church family there.

Katherine is survived by five children, Beverly Herman, of Baxter, Barbara (Roy) Dobson, of Chisholm, Dwight “Ike” VanVickle, of Motley, Marion (Rod) Beller, of Staples, and Robert (Wendy) Anderson, of Motley; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Delores Koob, Myrtle Jergenson, James, Jr. McDougle, and John McDougle. She is also survived by many special “children” who were brought into the circle of love within her family over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil; two daughters, Sheila and Diane; a son, Russell “Buck”; a grandson, David; and eight siblings, William, Gerald, Mabel, DeLaine, Caroline, Beatrice, Mary, and Marcella. Arrangements entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service.
