Karla N. Stromgren, age 66, of Columbia Heights, MN, passed away Monday morning at her daughters home in Richmond, VA. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 East Columbia St. Chippewa Falls, WI, with visitation beginning at noon. There will be a visitation Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Historic Thomson- Dougherty Funeral Home, 2535 Park Ave, Minneapolis. Interment will be Saturday afternoon in Forest Hills Cemetery at Chippewa Falls.
Karla Norinne Stromgren was born March 17, 1942, in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of Wallace and Esther (Steinbrecher) Lamb. She grew up in Chippewa Falls, WI. Following high school she attended the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire receiving her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Karla taught school in Stanley, WI, then later moved to Minneapolis and worked for the Anoka County Public Library. In recent years she earned her Masters Degree in Media Instruction from St. Cloud University. She taught in the Minneapolis Public School District for18 years before retiring in October of 2006. Karla loved reading, gardening, sailing, camping, spinning and weaving, and loved to travel, often by train, to visit her family and friends. Her passion for life and generous heart were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Esther Lamb.
Karla will be lovingly missed by her children, Sarah (Greg) Colacino of Richmond, VA, Eric (Christy) Mead of Elk River, MN, and Eva (Travis) Johnson of Franklin, OH; 8 grandchildren, Gage, Curtis, Ethan, Elijah, Meghan, Anthony, Nicholas, and Owen; siblings, Glenda (Tom) Halbleib of Eau Claire, WI, and Gary (Sue) Lamb of Prairie Farm, WI; many nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.
