Karl Landholm, 78, of Crosslake, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 in Crosslake. Services for Karl will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 22, 2010 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake. Visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Swanburg Cemetery in Timothy Township. Memorials preferred.
Karl F. Landholm was born January 20, 1932, the son of Folke and Angeline (Hoffman) Landholm. Karl grew up in St. Paul then moved to Brainerd. He was called to serve during the Korean War at the age of 19. After his honorable discharge, Karl worked in the construction field as a Lather until 1972. He served as president / financial officer for the Lathers Local in St. Paul. In the spring of 1972, Karl took the opportunity to join the School Service Employees Union, Local 284 (SEIU). He was a Business Representative, retiring in 1993, then moving to Crosslake, MN.
Karl is survived by his wife, Helen (Staples); daughters, Marilyn (Jim) Trinka, of Cottage Grove and Julie (Steve) Dudas of Fort Lauderdale, FL; his four grandchildren, Kari (Richard) Rugless of Cottage Grove, Brent Trinka, of Bemidji, Austin Dudas, of Orlando, FL, and Shane Dudas, of Fort Lauderdale; his great-granddaughter, Rebecca Rugless; his brothers, Richard (Sudy) NY, Roger (Diane) Spain. He was preceded in death by his son, Martin and his parents. He will also be missed by his walking companion, Sam.
