Karen (Adler) Larson, age 65, formerly of Northfield, died Tuesday, August 25 at her home in Emily. Karen was born September 17, 1937 in Harvey, Illinois, to Gordon and Catherine (McBratney) Adler. She grew up in Illinois, and completed both Bachelor?s and Master?s degrees in Education. She was united in marriage to her second husband Ernest Larson on August 2, 1974, in Watertown, South Dakota. They lived and raised their family in Northfield. After teaching briefly in Lakeville and Faribault, Karen taught Special Education in the Northfield Public School system for many years. She retired three years ago, and she and Ernie moved permanently to their lake home in Emily. She was widowed in December of 2002.
Karen is survived by two daughters, Catherine (Kent) Johnson of Lakeville and Elizabeth Anderson of Minneapolis; two sons, Stephen (Teresa) Anderson of Bridgman, MI and John (Dawn Knauer) of Maple Grove; a brother, John Adler of FL; and six grandchildren: Lauren, Carlton, and Catherine Johnson of Lakeville, Jacob Anderson of Maple Grove, and Alexander and Aaron Anderson of Bridgman, MI. Her parents, her husband, a brother, G. Dale Adler, and a granddaughter, Andrea Anderson, preceded her in death.
Memorial services for Karen are Friday, August 29, at the Wesleyan Church in Emily, with Reverend John Adler officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family, and will be forwarded to the Ronald McDonald House and the Make-A-Wish foundation of Ann Arbor, MI.
