Karen Gordon

May 30, 1939-June 1, 2023

Karen, age 84 of Crosslake, MN passed peacefully at her home on June 1, 2023. Karen was born on May 30, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN to devoted parents Harold and Muriel Raichert. She is preceded in death by brother, Butch Raichert and survived by husband, Roy and sister, Mary Kamleiter.

Karen married the love of her life, Roy, in March 1959. Karen and Roy were married for 64 years. They purchased their first home in Richfield, MN where they began their life together and raised three daughters, Debra (Jim) Culpepper, Lynn Peterka, and Kathi (Paul) Oster. 

One of Karen’s greatest joys was becoming a Grandmother. She was actively involved in the lives of her eight Grandchildren. She provided daycare and attended nearly all of their school and sporting events. Winning the “Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow” award in high school, “Gram” was very creative. She sewed countless items including Halloween costumes, pajamas, doll and Beanie Baby clothes. Gram knit baby afghans, Christmas stockings, hats and mittens. Karen was also adored by her eleven Great Grandchildren.

Karen and Roy purchased their cabin on the Whitefish Chain in Crosslake, MN in 1969. The family would travel Up North to the cabin every summer weekend. They enjoyed fishing, boating, and swimming. Eventually the summer cabin was converted into a year-round getaway and the family was able to enjoy snowmobiling and ice fishing. In 2005, Karen and Roy sold their Richfield home and retired to their Up North forever home.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on Friday, June 23 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Crosslake, MN. Visitation will start at 3pm with a service to follow at 4pm. Memorials preferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Carly with St. Croix Hospice.
