Junell Harold Remme, 85, of Belle Plaine, MN went peacefully home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, MN. Services for Junell will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Brainerd, MN with Pastor Gary Jorgenson officiating with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Interment at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN.
Junell was born on March 15, 1930 in Beaver Creek, MN to Harold and Junie (Edmundson) Remme. After he graduated from high school in Garretson, SD he began farming. Junell was a proud veteran who enlisted in the National Guard and served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953. Junell worked for Northern State Power Company, which later became Xcel Energy and retired from there. He married June Thomsen on October 25, 1953. They lived in Pipestone, MN for many years before moving to their lake home in Motley, MN in 1997. In 2014 they moved from Motley to Belle Plaine. His spiritual passion was to bring honor and glory to the Lord throughout his journey. He left his family and friends with a legacy of faith.
Junell is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, June; children, Bruce (LuAnn) Remme of Rochester, MN, Laurie (Tom) Burns of Excelsior, MN, Rhonda (Ron) Graves of Stillwater, MN, Brian Remme of Monticello, MN; sister, Janet (Swede) Anderson of Rochester, MN; sister-in-law, Bev Remme of Jasper, MN; brother-in-law, Paul Julson of Garretson, SD; nine grandchildren, Chelsey (Remme) Curuso, Krista (Remme) Peterson, Laura (Remme) Gilbertson, Robert Remme, Joe Burns, Rebecca (Burns) Paulson, Andrew Burns, Marcie (Graves) Langin, and Meredith (Graves) Boorsma; eight great-grandchildren, Luke Langin, Caleb Langin, Jackson Langin, Blake Boorsma, Anna Boorsma, Junie Gilbertson, Remme Peterson, and Parker Burns; and three more great-grandchildren expected in the spring of 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Junie; brother, Ronald Remme; and sister, Ruby Julson. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Baxter, MN, Calvary Free Lutheran Church in Mesa, AZ, and Kingsway Retirement Living in Belle Plaine, MN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, MN.
